Northern California MidSummer Regional Picnic

June 25th (2017)

Date details +

Please join us on Sunday, June 25th from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. for the Northern California Regional Midsummer Potluck Picnic. The past two years, Tamalpais Shambhala has hosted the North Bay Midsummer Picnic and due to the interest from other NorCal centers, we are moving the venue to the beautiful McNear’s Beach Park in San Rafael, which can accommodate significantly more people, on the shores of the San Pablo Bay.

This is a potluck event so please bring your favorite dish to share. There are barbecue grills, a small sandy beach where we can dip our toes and a large grassy area under the trees.

This is a great way to relax with old sangha friends and meet new ones, with no agenda other than enjoying the rocks, trees, sky, water, each other and so on. A lhasang will begin the festivities and Rees Sweeney-Taylor has offered to coordinate games.

We will need volunteers for set up, staffing the bbq grill and especially for clean up and we ask that you please sign up through your individual centers for these activities.

Also we are asking that everyone bring their own dishes, cutlery and napkins, leaving the disposables at home. We hope to make this a “green event”, where we attempt to “leave no trace”. Compost buckets and a dishwashing station will be provided.

Please note that there is a $10 parking fee, so be sure to carpool if you can. (Marin Co. residents can get a free parking pass from local Marin libraries).
