Join us for a five week exploration of the Heart Sutra with Sarah Woodard. We will look at five different translations and share our own insights and interpretations of this most profound Buddhist text.

We will explore the history and context of the Heart Sutra.  By reading and reciting different translations, and peering deeply into the core of the practice, we will come to better understand this world renowned sutra.  For centuries it has been not only a reminder of joy, but an incantation of ultimate mind protection.

The class is an invitation for everyone's wisdom and insight about "emptiness" and the heart of Mahayana wisdom, to be shared.

Schedule note - Feb 8th is skipped; the last class is Feb 15th. See "Date Details" above.

If you have a favorite commentary or translation of the Heart Sutra, please contact the coordinator [[email protected]].

Sarah Woodard entered Shambhala Buddhist practice in 1979. She soon relocated to Boulder, Colorado to study and practice directly with Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Integrating this study and meditation into ordinary life situations has meaningfully and deeply enriched her life and her roles as householder, mother and bodyworker. Sarah has taught Shambhala Training Levels and Buddhist study courses for more than 25 years. She also served as co-Regional Director of Shambhala training. Discovering the simplicity of goodness in our lives, touching human struggle and softening into our basic, natural opening, continues to motivate her practice and study.
