Exploring the Kagyu Lineage Chant
with Basha Hirschfeld
Online Program Presented by Tamalpais Shambhala
The Kagyu lineage is one of the strands of lineage which the Shambhala teachings stem from, the other two being the Nyingma and the Bon tradition; and it is a rich resource indeed — describing the path of meditation at the same time as it calls on those who came before to help and inspire us to carry on.
In this six week series, we will look at each stanza in some depth and explore what is being pointed to and what we can learn from these verses.
Certain phrases, when memorized, can be applied directly to our meditation practice and to the rest of our lives, offering a way to deepen our practice and our understanding of the Path. Please join us!
About Basha Hirschfeld
Basha has been a student of Ani Pema Chodron and of Shambhala since 2001, and has had the great honor of leading classes and teaching meditation in the Shambhala tradition.
Born in the Bronx, daughter of German Jewish refugees, Basha grew up in the beatnik era, later became a hippie, and then a radical feminist, leading protests and making films about change. Aside from the mundane miracles of motherhood and marriage, and now grand-motherhood, she enjoys running a small meditation retreat center, Open Sky Retreat Space out of her home in Sebastopol.
