Shambhala New Year of the Earth Dog is nearly upon us – a time when we will gather together to enjoy traditions of our warrior culture, receive direction and teachings from the Sakyong and celebrate the beginning of a new year as a global community. Each year, we prepare for the new year by cleaning and uplifting our center together. This will be from 10:00 - 2:00 on Saturday February 17.  We will again have our own in-house DJ, David with great dance music to inspire our cleaning.

    Celebration at the center

    Sunday February 18, 10 to 2

Then on Sunday, February 18, from 10:00 - 2:00, we will have our official Shambhala Day Celebration.  These annual holidays mark the rhythm of our shared culture and provide the opportunity for us to be together. The holiday of Shambhala Day (Shambhala New Year ) is particularly associated with reflecting upon the year that has passed and setting our intentions for the future.

This coming year is the Earth Dog Year. In the animal zodiac, dog year individuals are the most humanitarian, are selfless givers and strive for justice and equality. They are fiercely loyal, decent and courageous and are also magnanimous and prosperous. With the added element of earth, the energy of the dog is efficient, grounded and vigilant.

We can all aspire to bring the generosity and stability of the Earth Dog Year into our lives and local communities this coming year and to further the critical work of Shambhala to transform fear and aggression into wisdom and compassion. The world has never needed it more.

    Schedule -

We will gather for meditation, chanting of the Shambhala Sadhana, watching an address by the Sakyong, fundraising for the greater Shambhala mandala, and a ceremony of welcome for our new members. We will end by  sharing a delicious potluck lunch so please bring a special dish to share. We are invited to bring friends and family to celebrate this day with us.
