“If we want there to be peace in the world, we have to be brave enough to soften what is rigid in our hearts, to find the soft spot and stay with it. We have to have that kind of courage and take that kind of responsibility. That is the true practice of peace.”

— Pema Chodron

So much has been written about the practice of Tonglen and many times the instructions seem to contradict each other. In these dark times, Tonglen is sometimes the only thing we can do, and yet, it is so important, so vital to our health and to the health of the planet. Please join us as we study various texts and practice together, exploring the many facets of Tonglen. - Basha

Basha Hirschfeld has been a spiritual seeker all of her life. She has been a student of Ani Pema Chodron and of Shambhala since 2001, and has had the great honor of leading classes and teaching meditation in the Shambhala tradition.  Aside from the mundane miracles of motherhood and marriage, and now grand-motherhood, she enjoys running a small meditation retreat center, Open Sky Retreat Space, out of her home in Sebastopol.
